Bali: when is the best time to go?

Southeast Asia · 2026 weather & seasons guide

Bali is a year-round destination, but depending on when you go, the experience will be very different. Sunny dry season, tropical monsoon, cultural festivals, high-season prices… Here is everything you need to plan your trip to Bali properly.

🌤️ Bali's two seasons

Dry season (May to October) — The ideal period

The dry season is the best time to visit Bali. Sunshine is everywhere, rain is rare, and temperatures hover between 25°C and 32°C. It's the perfect moment for the beaches of Seminyak, the Tegallalang rice terraces and the temples of Ubud.

July-August are the tourist high season — beaches get crowded and prices peak. For more peace and quiet, go for May-June or September-October.

Rainy season (November to April) — Budget and authenticity

The monsoon brings showers that are usually short but intense in the late afternoon. Prices drop by 20 to 40%, the crowds thin out and the vegetation glows a brilliant green. December-January is the wettest period.

🎭 Balinese festivals not to miss

Nyepi (Day of Silence) — March or April depending on the Balinese calendar. The whole island stops: no lights, no noise, no cars. An experience unique in the world.

Galungan and Kuningan — every 210 days (Balinese calendar). The streets fill with penjors (decorated bamboo poles) and the temples come alive. A festive atmosphere guaranteed.

💡 Our tip: For the best value for money, travel in May or September. You'll enjoy perfect weather, quieter beaches and prices 15 to 25% lower than in July-August.
