Privacy policy

What data this site collects, why, for how long, and how to stay in control.

This is an editorial website: you come here to read travel guides, you don't create an account and you don't buy anything. Very little data is therefore collected, and this page explains what, why, and how you can object.

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This is an English translation of the French privacy policy. In case of any discrepancy, the French version prevails.

Who is the data controller

The data controller is William Hérisson, a sole trader (entreprise individuelle) trading as Dem-Tukki Média, 3 rue de la Prairie, 35510 Cesson-Sévigné, France, registered with the Rennes Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 108 906 769.

For any question about your data: contact@dem-tukki.com. There is no data protection officer: the publisher handles these requests personally.

What is collected, and why

Audience measurement

The site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-1H1JC4QBPT) to understand which pages are read, from which countries and through which channels visitors arrive. The data processed are a cookie identifier, the truncated IP address, the country and approximate city, the pages viewed, the time spent on them, the device type, the browser and the referral source.

Legal basis: your consent. No measurement is triggered until you have accepted audience measurement cookies in the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, or do not respond, Google Analytics is not loaded and no data is sent.

Cookieless visit counting (Umami)

In addition, the site uses Umami Cloud to count visits anonymously: pages viewed, referring site or link, country, device type and browser. Umami sets no cookies and uses no trackers on your device. Your IP address is only used to work out your country and is not stored. No data can identify you or follow you from one site to another.

Legal basis: the publisher's legitimate interest in knowing how many people visit the site. If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” signal, your visit is not counted.

Affiliate links

When you click a booking link to a partner (accommodation, flights, car hire, activities), that partner may set a cookie in your browser to attribute the booking to this site and pay a commission. This cookie is set by the partner, on its own domain, and is covered by the partner's privacy policy, not this one.

Legal basis: your consent, collected through the banner. These links still work if you decline: you book as usual, just without attribution.

Competitions

When a competition is run on the site, the data requested are your first name, last name, email address and your answers to the quiz. They are used solely to manage entries, select and contact the winners, and handle any complaint.

Legal basis: performance of the competition rules, which you accept by entering. A separate, optional, unticked box also lets you sign up for the newsletter — this is a separate consent, and declining does not stop you from taking part.

Newsletter

If you sign up, your email address and the date you signed up are stored. They are only used to send you news from the site. Legal basis: your consent. Every message contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also write to the contact address.

Messages you send us

If you write to contact@dem-tukki.com, your email address and the content of your message are kept for as long as it takes to handle your request. Legal basis: legitimate interest in replying to people who write to us.

Technical logs

The hosting provider automatically keeps connection logs (IP address, date, page requested, response code) to ensure the security and proper operation of the server. Legal basis: legitimate interest in protecting the site against attacks and outages. These logs are not used for statistical or commercial purposes.

Who has access to your data

No data is sold, rented or exchanged. It is only shared with the service providers needed to run the site, each for its own part:

Your data may also be disclosed where required by law, at the request of a judicial authority.

Transfers outside the European Union

Google Analytics may transfer data to the United States. These transfers rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework to which Google LLC has signed up, and on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. If this concerns you, declining audience measurement cookies in the banner avoids it entirely: nothing is then sent.

Umami statistics may be hosted in the United States, but they contain no data that could identify you.

Cookies and consent

A banner appears on your first visit. Declining is as easy as accepting : the two buttons sit side by side, are the same size, and nothing is pre-selected. Until you accept, no measurement or affiliate cookie is set.

Umami visit counting sets no cookies: it works without your consent and therefore does not appear in the banner.

You can change your choice at any time : the “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page reopens the banner. You can also delete cookies that have already been set in your browser settings.

Your rights

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, objection, and portability regarding your personal data. You can also withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything done before.

To exercise any of these rights, write to contact@dem-tukki.com. You will receive a reply within one month. Proof of identity will only be requested if there is serious doubt about your identity, and it will not be kept.

If you are not satisfied with the reply, you can contact the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, or file a complaint online at cnil.fr.

Minors

This site is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect data about them. Competitions are open to adults only, or to minors with parental permission where the rules allow it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, access to its administration is password-protected, and the data collected is limited to what is strictly necessary. No payment data passes through this site: bookings are made on partners' websites.

Changes to this policy

This policy may change, particularly when new services are added to the site. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. If there is a significant change to the purposes or recipients, the consent banner will be shown to you again.
