The islands are part of New Zealand: the NZeTA and IVL levy required to enter the country are all you need, with no extra checks. There are no buses or taxis at the airport: arrange a pick-up with your accommodation or book a vehicle in advance. Remember to put your watch forward 45 minutes.

When to go and what it costs

The season runs from October to April, with more flights in summer. Seats are limited: book your flights and accommodation together, several weeks ahead. Fares vary with the departure city and the season: compare directly on the Air Chathams website.
