Gotō Islands: a hire car is the most practical option on Fukue
On Fukue, Gotō Jidōsha buses link the airport and the centre, but a hire car remains the freest way to reach Takahama beach, Cape Ōsezaki and the churches in the west. A dozen rental companies operate at the airport and the port, and some deliver the car to your hotel. Drivers from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Monaco and Taiwan must show an official Japanese translation of their licence, while UK, US and most other drivers need an International Driving Permit (1949 Geneva Convention). On Nakadōri too, a car is the most practical option.
