Ishigaki: a rental car is the best way to explore
On Ishigaki, buses link the airport, the port and a few beaches, but a rental car is by far the freest way to tour the island, from Kabira to the Hirakubo lighthouse. Depending on your nationality you will need an International Driving Permit or, for French and German drivers among others, an official Japanese translation of your licence. Use the comparison tool below to choose a rental company at the airport; on Taketomi you get around by bike, and on Iriomote you can rent locally.
