The car rental comparison sites we checked offer no branch on Lifou: book directly, and ideally in advance, with the island's rental firms (Europcar at Wanaham airfield, Localif, Faré Falaise Location, Auto Pro Locations, Toyota Location). A car is considered essential for reaching the south-east and Luengöni; otherwise, scooters, accommodation shuttles and private transport will get you around, and some hotels offer paid transfers from the airfield.
