Mayotte is home to one of the largest lagoons in the world, enclosed by a unique double barrier reef. The crystal-clear waters teem with sea turtles, reef sharks, manta rays, dugongs and extraordinary coral gardens — a paradise for snorkellers and divers alike.

Glide silently through the largest mangrove forest in France aboard a traditional pirogue canoe. Local guides reveal the secrets of this remarkable ecosystem — home to herons, kingfishers, baby fish nurseries and the intricate roots of Mayotte's coastal forest.

The iconic Moya beach on Petite-Terre is one of Mayotte's finest, where sea turtles nest and the turquoise lagoon laps the white sand. Petite-Terre itself is a charming island of old colonial buildings, botanical gardens and spectacular panoramic viewpoints over Grande-Terre.

Boat trips since 1998 from the Mamoudzou pontoon: dolphin and lagoon safari, round-the-island tour, humpback whales from July to October.
