Hiroshima Airport (HIJ) is served by domestic flights from Tokyo, Osaka and Sapporo. From Europe, connect via Tokyo. Transfer time to Miyajima: 1h30.
The Hiroshima Shinkansen station is on the JR Pass network. From Tokyo: 4h. From Osaka: 1h30. Often more convenient than flying.
Regular ferries depart from Miyajimaguchi (Hiroshima), journey takes 10 minutes. JR ferries are covered by the Japan Rail Pass.
For most visitors, combining a Hiroshima flight or Shinkansen with the ferry is the optimal way to reach Miyajima.
💡 Practical Info : The JR Pass is excellent value if you plan multiple long-distance journeys. Hiroshima is well-connected to all major Japanese cities.
