Naoshima is very small (8 km²) and most art sites are clustered together. A car is neither necessary nor the best way to explore the island.
Rent a bicycle at the ferry terminal or your guesthouse. E-bikes are available for the hilly terrain around the Benesse area.
A small community bus loops between the ferry port, Honmura village and the Benesse area every 20-30 minutes.
If you want to explore the wider Seto Inland Sea region, rent a car on the mainland and use ferries to reach the islands.
