Entry and arrival

French citizens can enter Hong Kong visa-free for tourist stays of up to 90 days, with a valid passport. These rules are specific to Hong Kong and separate from those of mainland China. On arrival, buy an Octopus card: it works on the metro, buses and ferries.

When to go and at what price?

From October to December the weather is ideal and demand is high: book your flights several months ahead. Fares also rise around Chinese New Year. Summer is quieter on prices, but hot, humid and exposed to typhoons.
